How do I sign up for Meals on Wheels?To sign up for Meals on Wheels, please call (360) 419-3420 or contact us and we will get back to you as soon as we can. The application can be completed over the phone.
How long does it take to start receiving Meals on Wheels?
Once we complete an application, we can usually start meals within 1-2 days.
How much does it cost?
Meals on Wheels does not charge for it’s meals, as they are provided on a donation basis only. The current suggested donation is $3.00 per meal, but no one is denied a meal if they are unable to donate. Each participant will receive a donation summary at the beginning of the month to let them know what a
suggested donation would be for meals received.
What days do you deliver meals? At what time should I expect my meal?
We currently deliver hot meals, Monday – Friday at most locations and frozen meals are available for the weekends. The meal times vary by location, but
most meals be delivered between 11:00am – 1:00pm.
I live in a rural area – can you deliver to me?
If you live in a rural area, outside our hot meal delivery area, we can deliver seven frozen meals once per week. When we fill out your application, these options will be discussed.
Can my spouse also receive a meal, even if they don’t meet the eligibility criteria?
Yes. A spouse or disabled child in the home of a Meals on Wheels participant may also receive a meal.
Can I receive 2 hot meals each day?
No, unfortunately we are only able to provide one hot meal a day.
What meal choices do you offer? Are the meals nutritious?
We offer one meal per day, made at our Central Kitchen. Each meal contains the freshest ingredients and is designed to provide 1/3 Recommended Daily Dietary Allowances for people over 60 years of age.
In addition, we must follow USDA Guidelines with regards to calories, protein,
3 servings fruit/vegetable, Calcium source, Vitamin C source and Vitamin A source.
For those who are interested, we offer a Diabetic Dessert option.
Our menu changes each month, however, we always offer 3oz of protein,
3 servings of fruit or vegetables, 2 starch servings, and an 8oz container of 2% milk.
