The Skagit Nutrition Program prepares all meals in a central kitchen, 5 days a week, providing 300—500 meals each day to Skagit County meal sites, by using only the freshest ingredients. The same meal that is provided at our Congregate Meal Site is the same meal that is delivered to our Meals on Wheels participants.

Our monthly menu is designed to provide 1/3 the Recommended Daily Dietary Allowances for people over 60 years of age. Additionally, we must follow the USDA Guidelines with regards to calories, protein, fruit/vegetables, calcium and vitamins A and C. Each meal will contain the following: 3 oz serving of protein
(in the entrée), 3 servings of fruits and/or vegetables, 2 starches and an 8 oz serving of milk. We also offer a dessert with many of our meals. Low carbohydrate/diabetic desserts can be substituted if requested.

Frozen meals are available for participants that live outside our hot meal delivery area and for weekend meals. Many of the frozen meals are specifically prepared to be low in fat and salt to meet special dietary needs. Vegetarian and Mexican entrée choices can be requested if a participant is on the frozen meal program.
