Program Eligibility & Services

The Skagit Meals on Wheels & Senior Nutrition Program offers meal service to those aged 60 and over. All meals are provided on a donation basis only and there is no financial eligibility criteria to receive meals. Our suggested donation rate for seniors over 60 is $3.00 per meal, however it costs our program over $6.00 to prepare each meal.

We do offer meals at our meal site locations to non-seniors for $6.00. Children aged 14 and under can receive a meal at a price of $2.50.

Home Delivered Meals are available to seniors who have a hard time leaving their homes without assistance and have difficulty in preparing their own meals. Volunteers, many of who are seniors themselves, deliver all noontime meals.
The goal of the Meals on Wheels program is to enable seniors to remain at home, living independent lives even though they may not be able to prepare nutritious meals for themselves.

Congregate (Senior Center Meals) are available at seven meal site locations, providing hot, noontime meals to seniors who are able to leave their homes and join others at designated meal sites. Seniors dining at a meal site have the opportunity to socialize with others and participate in organized activities.

Liquid Meal Supplements are also available to those with special dietary needs. A liquid meal can be helpful for seniors who are underweight or cannot eat properly due to illness or disability. To be eligible for a Liquid Meal, you must be over 60 and have a prescription from a doctor, nurse, or a Registered Dietitian.
